Rebecca Powers Teaches This Back Care Class for Everyone!
Many of us have suffered from back pain at one time or another and for some of us it’s chronic. In this workshop, we will draw from yoga, mindfulness practices, and anatomy to learn how to care for our backs. We will use asana as a tool to strengthen the musculature that supports the spine as well as to relieve and prevent pain. We will also discuss ways to modify and use props in yoga class to accommodate common chronic conditions that cause back pain.
Rebecca Powers is grateful that yoga, mindfulness, and the study of anatomy have given her the tools to live without daily pain from multiple herniated discs and looks forward to sharing what she has learned with you.
Rebecca is a lifelong student of yoga and is a graduate of the Kripalu Professional Teacher Training program (RYT E-200). While in residence at Kripalu she studied under Sudha Carolyn Lundeen, Priti Robyn Ross, Devarshi Steven Hartman, Jovinna Chan, and Larissa Hall Carlson.
Rebecca has a foundation in Iyengar yoga and has studied extensively in other styles including Anusaura, Ashtanga, Kripalu, and Yin. Her classes emphasize mindfulness, pranayama (breath) and physical alignment.
