Christine Shaw

Welcome and Namaste. The light in me shines to the light in each and everyone!

I am grateful everyday to meet new people and offer practices from the wisdom of yoga to meet their needs. I enjoy guiding you on your journey to happiness and  success in all areas to achieve physical, mental and emotional fitness and positivity. I look forward to sharing the best practices for you in a healing and caring way. I focus on (and teach you) staying with the present moment and using my intuition to really "see" people just as they are and what they need. I guide you to become the master of yourself. When your mind, body and spirit are in harmony you can thrive in life.

I have been practicing Yoga since 1998 and teaching since 2004. I received certifications as a personal trainer, pilates instructor, level 2 Reiki practitioner and 500hr E-RYT.

I received my 200-hour RYT certification in 2009 with Empowered Yoga and Core Strength Vinyasa certification from Sadie Nardini leading to the creation of FLY! Vinyasa. In 2016 I received certification as a Level 1 Yoga Therapist from Kula Kamala Ashram with guru Swamini Saraswati Sivananda and in 2018 I completed Spiritual Leadership certification. I enjoy meeting and serving every person on the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.

In 2015 I developed and created Yoga for Emotional Support (YES), a unique program for self-care and self-love, after experiencing an abundance of my own life challenges. I realized that people are looking for ways to befriend themselves and reduce stress created from past programming and difficult life situations. YES was designed to help reduce stress and improve relationships, especially the one you have with yourself. Learn techniques in class or private sessions to focus on your own well-being and aid in cleansing your mind and body of toxic thoughts, feelings and emotions.

In addition to yoga I enjoy singing professionally and biking, camping, teaching and tutoring children, spending time with my grown children, Emily and Bailey, and my dog, Sosa. I am and author and just completed my first book "Yoga for Emotional Support; practices for befriending yourself". See you on the mat! 

Erin Detwiler

Greetings and thank you for coming to check out the Liberty Yoga website. Each yoga class I teach is specifically designed for the individuals in the room, on that day.  Remembering your goals is important to me so I can offer appropriate practices that will support those goals.  Yoga is a wonderful practice - physical, mental, and spiritual as well as social, emotional, and energetic.  I'd love to introduce you to the very diverse toolbox of yoga practices that offer relief from stress and renewal of joy. Come and introduce yourself to me. I look forward to each new connection life brings. My yoga students are my greatest teachers! Deep bow! 

I am graduating July 2021 with a Masters of Science in Yoga Therapy from Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH). The program at MUIH has been transformative and I look forward to helping others achieve their goals through the practices of yoga therapy.  I've had a yoga business in the wonderful city of Newark, DE (my hometown) since 2009.  Before that, I taught fitness classes of all kinds and was primarily a mom.  Some interesting highlights of my yoga career include teaching Anatomy and Physiology classes in the past at Delaware Tech and currently I teach The Power of Yoga at Wilmington University

 

In addition to a Masters of Science in Yoga Therapy I also have a Masters of Science in Chemical Oceanography.  In that past life - it seems very long ago - I did climate change research and environmental compliance work.  I am also a mother of four wonderful - now mostly grown and all taller than me - children and I have two fur babies (a clever cat and a fluffy dog).  My favorite form of exercise is hiking and I enjoy volunteering extensively at Dhamma Pubbananda in Claymont, DE.
